Reflecting on Domestic Violence: Understanding the Emotional Aftermath
Women who have been victimized by abuse often have trouble understanding the emotional toll it takes on their mental health. Many find it difficult to make sense of the abused person’s attitude or seemingly new personality. Reflecting on Domestic Violence: Understanding the Emotional Aftermath aims to explain these changes and emotions created by abuse. It parallels abusive behaviors with different emotions associated with domestic violence. In each chapter, poetry written by Lauren and other survivors serves as a unique identifier allowing the reader to experience each emotion.
This book will enable women to find answers regarding their inner struggle after being victimized while also helping those who love them understand what the abused person is going through. Most importantly, it will gently guide the victims toward emotional enlightenment and the beginning of healing.
