A Lifetime of Shame: The Power of Prayer Overcoming Incest

A Lifetime of Shame shares the story of a woman’s journey toward healing. Though having no memories of the incest as a teenager, she exhibited behaviors common to survivors of incest and abuse, especially that of self-hatred. She developed an eating disorder as her coping mechanism and lived a reckless teenage life. Eventually, she sought help for her eating disorder, and some memories of her childhood are remembered during psychotherapy.

Tragically her family denies her validation of her childhood events, which leads to a suicide attempt. Hospitalized, she finally begins treatment for depression and bulimia and proceeds into her adult life not totally remembering and not processing the shame of the incest. After failed marriages, her mother’s death, and the raising of her daughter, she finds herself on a Florida adventure. In Florida she reconnects to her Christian faith which she had abandoned. A Lifetime of Shame reveals how she finds true healing through discovering the love of God.
